50th ANNIVERSARY MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
In December 2009 our school celebrated 50 years of public education. A concert was held to highlight the significance that music had played in our school in that time. At a celebration luncheon ex-students made a decision to donate money to commence a Music Scholarship fund.
At Presentation Day in December this year the Music Department will award $1,500 scholarships to three students. All Chatswood High School students are eligible to apply for a scholarship. The application must be in writing. Applicants may be required to perform as part of the audition. Successful applicants must be students continuing at Chatswood High School, studying music at school, learning an instrument from a private teacher, preparing for practical examinations, and participating in the extra curricular music programme at our school. Scholarship winners should perform as a soloist at the annual Showcase Music Night and to represent the school as a solo performer if required. Please note that school conduct and performance will be taken in to account.
Students interested in applying for a scholarship need to submit a CV indicating their interest in music, participation in our school ensembles, examination results (if they have done exams), a reference from their private teacher, and an explanation of how the $1,500 might be spent.
We also want to promote some of the less popular instruments, and may award a scholarship to a junior student who is interested in playing an Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba or Viola. Students are invited to nominate an instrument and to write why they would like to play this instrument.
Applications must be submitted to Ms Ward (Head Teacher CAPA) by Monday November 14th.
Ms Ward’s email address is [email protected]
Yours Sincerely,
Gavin Staines
